ABOUT

Michael Montenare, OD, MAT, FCOVD

Dr. Montenare is board certified in both ocular disease and vision therapy & rehabilitation. He graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry in 2012 with high academic honors, having earned the Pacesetter Award for Excellence in Primary Care. He completed residency training under Leonard J. Press, OD, FAAO, FCOVD with a focus on pediatric visual-developmental disorders and post-trauma vision syndrome (e.g. concussion or stroke).

Dr. Montenare is a Fellow in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (FCOVD), which recognizes advanced training and expertise in Vision Therapy & Rehabilitation. He treats a wide variety of conditions, including lazy eye, convergence insufficiency, binocular disorders, eye focusing and tracking disorders, learning-related vision problems, and acquired brain injuries.

 

Before becoming an optometrist, Dr. Montenare taught high school English Language Arts. He works closely with teachers and school administrators to provide Section 504 accommodations.
